Professor Huang Hongci: A Man of Mathematics

Professor HUANG Hongci, a distinguished computational mathematician and a retired Professor of Mathematics at HKBU, who has made significant contributions to and has been a leading figure in China’s development of computational mathematics. Even at the age of 90, Professor Huang still passionately shared his insights at the “Seminar on the Future Development of Computational Mathematics and Professor Huang Hongci’s 90th Birthday Celebration” held at the Institute for Advanced Study, Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) in May 2025, where the academics gathered together.

To recognise Professor Huang’s tremendous contribution and achievements in the field, Professor TANG Tao, the former President of BNBU and former Dean of Science of HKBU, has written jointly with Professor E Weinan, Professor at Peking University and Director of Beijing Institute of Big Data Research, an article “Huang Hongci: A Pioneer of Chinese Computational Mathematics from Hong Kong”.
