A Workshop on “What role does modern agriculture play in sustainable development?”
Thirty Form Four and Form Five students from De La Salle Secondary School, New Territories participated in a workshop organised by the Department of Biology on 26 April 2023. The workshop was designed to inspire the secondary students (studying the subjects of Biology, Geography or Information Technology) on the topics of modern agriculture and sustainable development.
The workshop included an overview on various important global topics such as sustainability, food security, and modern agricultural technologies. The workshop included a demonstration of an aquaponic system, and sharing of research highlights by a plant scientist. Small group discussions and demonstration were led by the undergraduate students of the BSc (Hons) in Bioresource and Agricultural Science programme. This interactive mode of teaching allowed for effective learning and communication among the youths.
