Alumna Wai Fan Yuen presents “Maker Ukulele Set” at Cyberport media briefing

Alumna Wai Fan Yuen (Department of Mathematics; Class of 2013), Business Development Manager of Chord Hero was invited by Cyberport to take part in its media briefing in late Dec 2022 for sharing the latest developments within Cyberport community in Web3 for the areas of FinTech, smart living, digital entertainment/e-sports and ways to sustain its ecosystem.

At the media briefing, Alumna Yuen introduced Chord Hero’s vision is to offer a variety of physical and digital music products with gamification and new technology elements to provide a fun music learning option affordably. She also introduced their signature product which could be used for STEAM education, “Maker Ukulele Set” which uses AR technology helping users to assemble their own ukuleles, encourages users to personalize their instruments with paint included, and then start learning to play using its mobile game, ChordVentures. This product was certified by the Education Alliance Finland in 2019 and awarded the Digital Ehon Award from Japan in October 2022.

Moving forward, Chord Hero would like to get more students to become involved in Web3 through its extension of the “Maker Ukulele Set” with the new Sandbox Experience Program. Students will learn to digitize their personalized ukuleles for the metaverse world. Chord Hero will help to mint NFTs (non-fungible tokens) from those designs and then put them on Chord Hero Music Land on The Sandbox metaverse ("the metaverse") for exhibition.

Chord Hero is one of the sponsors of the Hong Kong Visual Arts Education Festival ( https://www.hksea.org.hk/hkvaef-2022 ) organized by the Hong Kong Society for Education in Art (HKSEA). The chosen students will be the first to have their artworks to be exhibited on The Sandbox. A physical exhibition of the ukuleles will also take place at Hong Kong City Hall simultaneously during 27 Jan - 3 Feb. This gives students an opportunity to showcase their artworks not only to the public in Hong Kong but also around the world through the metaverse. The NFTs will be available for purchase with profits for charity purposes.
