Funding SuccessThe Faculty has recently received the following four funding projects with a total amount of over HK$6.2 million.
ITF-UICP: Innovation and Technology Fund, University-Industry Collaboration Programme HMRF: Health and Medical Research Fund Dr Jade Shi’s Team Awarded Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) in 2018 Dr Jade Shi, Associate Professor of the Department of Physics was awarded a CRF equipment grant by RGC in 2018, together with Co-PIs from four other local universities to establish the first high-resolution, live-cell imaging system for quantifying long-term 3D dynamics of large tissue models and organisms. The system, named Andor Dragonfly, was installed in March 2019 and is now fully functional to carry out research projects that require imaging large 3D bio-samples (e.g., organoids, cancer spheroids and C. elegans embryos) over long duration of time (hours to days), a critical imaging capability that was previously unavailable in Hong Kong. We envision the establishment of this new long-term 3D live-cell imaging system for shared usage will enhance the research competitiveness of Hong Kong in life science and biomedicine, enable research development with international excellence and promote cross-institutional collaboration to unravel complex bio-dynamics.

CRF is one of the most competitive research grants in Hong Kong, the awarded project has gone through vigorous review process. |
