Launching of Career Mentorship Programme in 2019-20

The Faculty of Science is excited to announce the launch of the first-ever Career Mentorship Programme at Faculty level in the academic year 2019-20 to provide an opportunity for our Science students to meet and learn from the alumni of the Faculty and members of the community with an aim to enhance their professional, social and personal growth and to build a strong professional network.

“In this ever-changing and competitive society, university students have to equip themselves for their future careers. To better prepare students for such career challenges, we hope this programme could provide valuable opportunities for our undergraduate science students to seek advice on career direction and life goals from career mentors who are experienced professionals and senior executives from across different industries,” said Mr Alan Wong, Chairman of the Advisory Committee. “In addition to ongoing self-oganised interaction opportunities, structured Faculty-level gatherings will be organised to facilitate the two-way participation between mentors and mentees throughout the mentorship period.”

With the support of Advisory Committee, Science alumni and friends of the Faculty, over 40 enthusiastic career mentors have committed to guiding for around 100 Year 3 undergraduate students. Each career mentor will take care of the student mentees and share with them their personal insights on job search, career planning, and professional development.
